Take Out to Lift Up: Restaurant Week 2020
Where the team is going for Minneapolis Restaurant Week 2020.
It’s been a hard year for local restaurants. Covid-19 shut things down in Minnesota right in the midst of what should have been the buzzing patio season. We weren’t even sure if our friends at MSP Mag would be able to put on a restaurant week this year. But if there’s one thing Minnesotans are great at, it’s preserving through the tough times and helping our neighbors make it too - whether it be a record breaking blizzard or a global pandemic. Fittingly, this October’s theme is ‘Take Out to Lift Up’ with the tagline distance socially, eat locally to boot. The best restaurants around the city are gearing up to offer great specials that go from just $15-35 per person. Dine in is available at some locations as well, but please be mindful to mask up and follow the rules, we’re all in this together. So, if you’ve been meaning to check out a slew of great eats, now is the time. Kitchens need our support, and we could all use a little extra food made with love during these times. Without further ado, here is where the team will be checking out.
Baldamar
I’ve had my eye on visiting this hot new Roseville steakhouse for a little while now. It’s spearheaded by Randy Stanley of 6Smith Wayzata fame and the raving reviews I’ve been hearing have me extra excited to check it out. For restaurant week they’re offering a 3 course dinner for just $35 per person. I’ll be choosing the Filet Mignon, please!
Trattoria Mucci
It’s fall y’all, and that means I’m craving all the autumn comfort foods I can find. Trattoria Mucci’s restaurant week dinner features Delicata Squash Burratta with pecans, figs and honey; Butternut Squash Gnochhi with goat cheese, truffles, pistachios, fried sage and calabrese chilis and a Pumpkin Ginger Whoopie Pie with mascarpone to finish it all off.
Pig Ate My Pizza
Already dreaming about getting this craft take-out pizza from Pig Ate my Pizza in Robbinsdale. But don’t just expect your regular take-out pizza options. Here it’s all about unique flavor combinations. I’m eyeing the “Up in Smoke” with smoked peach sauce, bbq meat, goat cheese, pickled peaches, fried shallots, micro cabbage, peach vinaigrette spritz, bacon lardon and honey. Yep- that's all on one pizza. All that with a salad and brownie for $25. Count me in to take it out.
Alma
Cafe Alma is one of our go-to spots for a nice evening out. A Minneapolis staple, they always source their high-quality ingredients locally and create beautiful seasonal menus. We’re looking forward to their three course dinner menu created exclusively for restaurant week. The starters include a yummy farro, chickpea, and roasted broccoli salad. There’s a few great options for the entree but I’ll be choosing one of the pasta dishes. The experience ends with a decadent Valrhona chocolate cold press brownie. I’m already hungry.
These are just a few of the many great selections that will be available this week. Head to Msp Mag to get more information and see the full list of participating restaurants.
Let us know what you try out!
